6 Great Reasons to Read This Holiday!
It’s a wonderful time of year to snuggle up in a cozy spot and crack open a good book.

Children and grandchildren love reading and using that imaginative time to think about other times and places. Soak up this wonderful time of year and get together with your grandchildren and loved ones and find some wonderful stories to share.
All Time Favorite Reads
What were your favorite holiday stories when you grew up? Maybe you have one or two copies of those books on your shelf. Bringing your favorite stories and sharing them with your family is very rewarding. It is another way that generations connect and understand each other.
Personal Stories
One rewarding aspect of reading is the personal stories that it evokes. Memories and stories come back, as the “I remember when” moments are shared with your family in a special way.
Why was that title your favorite story?
Was it given as a gift one year?
Did you have siblings or cousins that read the book with you?
Was it your mother, your father, or a grandparent that read the story to you?
What was your favorite part?
When children and grandchildren hear favorite books and the memories attached to them, they share in the learning of what life was like and how it relates to them now.
Connect, Connect, Connect.
In our online social world, the struggle to connect increases, and we must respond with an intention to physically connect with each other. The reasons to not connect are simply too easy nowadays - feeling tired, unwell, the weather and busy schedules.
But the reasons to connect are so vitally important. In this holiday season, don’t let the amazing opportunity to find and love family slip by. Grab onto it and relish that beautiful time together.

Visit Your Library
One great thing about your local library is how inviting the displays are during the holiday season. On shelves and in display areas, you will find popular favorites of holiday reading. The children’s section is chock full of choices and the librarians are happy to help if you are looking for a specific title. Also, fun at the library and usually for younger children, is the scheduled Reading Time. A Reader will sit with the children and read through a few of the favorites. This can be a nice opportunity to listen to a book that you may not have read before, or a great holiday book about another culture and their traditions.
