Feed the Holidays at Your Local Food Bank!

During the thick of our holiday season, grocery prices are sneaking upwards, and we are preparing for our holiday parties and gatherings!

Some are fortunate enough to be able to absorb the holiday hit—at least for the near term. But there are many who are barely hanging on through this season and could use extra help right now.

Too many families have to make the choice between buying groceries, paying for housing, or covering an increasing cost of utilities. With the holidays in full swing, and the additional costs that go with the season, many families in our local communities could really use a helping hand. So why not make a difference in someone’s life by making a food donation?

Food donations can be fast, easy, and also be tagged right on to a regular grocery shopping trip!

Donation Ideas

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank helped nearly 350,000 people last year! Wow, this is a real need that is being met each day! The need for donations and volunteers to help run this massive effort is only increasing. If you can donate even $1, $5, $20 to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, which covers six counties throughout NE Ohio, this can help provide three meals to a family in need.

Additionally, in our own communities, the neighborhood church food pantries have regular pick-up times for those who need to pick up food and regular drop times for donations. Many houses of worship run food drives, transport donations, and also offer giving-tree opportunities.

These are all wonderful ways to plug into your neighborhood and local community. Neighbors helping Neighbors!

Online Options

Nowadays, online grocery shopping is a very popular option. This super convenient option is perfect if your schedule doesn’t allow for in-person shopping.

Did you know, Instacart now offers food bank donation options through the end of the year using its Community Carts initiative? Using the app, tap on the “Community Carts” banner, choose your food bank choice, select items from the organization’s wish list, and the groceries will be delivered on your behalf.

If you aren’t sure where to find a local food bank, another resource is Feeding America. On their website, enter your zip code or state, and a map will show you food bank locations near you.

It doesn’t take a huge donation to really make another person’s holiday meal happen. A little goes a long way in this season of giving.

This holiday, consider giving the gift of food to a family in need!

Happy Holidays! Wishing you and yours a warm and safe, joy-filled season!
