Team Explorers Raises Money forLeukemia & Lymphoma Society!
In Cleveland, Ohio, this month the Student Visionaries of the Year 2023 Campaign started off with a bang!

In Cleveland, Ohio, this month the Student Visionaries of the Year 2023 Campaign started off with a bang and some stiff competition while local high school students make a mad dash in a 7-week race to raise the most money in their community to fight blood cancers and ultimately be named the great honor of Student Visionary of the Year 2023!
Grandparent Merit Badges is proudly supporting the Hudson High School Team Explorers this year on their mission to raise money! They are working hard lining up events and have raised over $4000 so far!
GMB donates $3.00 to the LLS for every GMB kit sold, every day, all year long. We are thrilled to stand behind this motivated team. Their campaign will run through March 18th, 2023. LLS is now posting about the campaign on Facebook and other social media!
We raised a question to Team Explorer’s campaign managers:
What has been the greatest joy you have encountered from this campaign?
Erica Liu says:
"The greatest joy I've encountered is seeing the smiles and the happiness of my team members when they see they've raised money for a good cause. I think the most important part of this fundraiser is the feeling of helping the community and giving back to the patients in need."
Important mile markers and upcoming dates for Team Explorer:
- We are currently at $4,000 raised!! (February 2023 - during campaign!)
- We have some upcoming fundraisers. On February 17th, we hosted a fundraiser at Sweet Frog (a frozen yogurt place) where we earned 20% of the profits each time a customer says that they are there for LLS.
- We also have a Hudson High School Fashion Show coming up March 8th.
- Finally, we have a Chipotle fundraiser on the night of March 11th.
- All Grandparent Merit Badge books sold at Team Explorer's events, 100% of the proceeds go to LLS!
When Erica’s co-Captain Jiyoo Lee was asked the same question about her experience in the campaign, Jiyoo says:
"My greatest joy has been being able to see all the support around me. With my busy life nowadays, I haven't been able to appreciate all of those in my life who genuinely support and care about, not just me, but important causes like this. Each donation that came in warmed my heart and gave me so much hope. The campaign has given me the opportunity to spark conversations with adults in my community that I have always known about, but never gotten a chance to talk to. Their kindness and humility made me realize how many good people I am surrounded by. It also has further made me realize my "Why?". People always ask me what makes me want to become a doctor. And I feel like I'm still so young and I have so much growing to do, but this campaign has given me a purpose and I feel like I am able to truly help people across the country and give my support back to the community that has been so supportive of me."
The go-getter Team Explorers is doing fabulous and making a difference in their community!
From their own words, it sounds like the campaign is having an impact on them too in the best possible way! We are truly encouraged to hear this kind of feedback in such an important national campaign. Great Job, Team Explorers!
We wish all the fundraisers and campaigners for the Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign 2023 a productive and fruitful campaign! We would also like to thank each and every one of the Team Explorers for spending the time talking to friends and family about blood cancer awareness and raising funds by donating even the smallest amounts!
