Spring has sprung and summer is on its way. Everywhere you look, something new is popping! Including here at Grandparent Merit Badges! We have so much news, we hardly know where to start with the announcements this month! Let’s start here…
It’s Official – We’re Published!
We are proud to announce the publication and official release of the 2nd Edition of the Grandparent Merit Badges book! Halo Publishing International (“Halo”) is now binding and globally distributing the 2nd Edition of the Grandparent Merit Badges (“GMB”) book for us!
While the activity content remains the same between the two editions, there are a few details that differentiate the 2nd Edition GMB book from our original 1st Edition GMB kit. Here are the main differences…
The 1st Edition GMB kit includes a saddle stitched activity journal (including a Certificate of Merit) and three (3) separate pages of ‘peel and stick’ merit badge stickers, all contained inside an outer envelope. The 1st Edition GMB kit is still available for purchase for a limited time and until inventory runs out.
The 2nd Edition GMB book is a true “book” rather than a “kit”. The 2nd Edition GMB book is a beautifully bound paperback book printed on higher quality paper with all pages of the book bound therein, including the Certificate of Merit and merit badge pages.
Another main difference between the 1st Edition GMB kit and the 2nd Edition GMB book is that the 2nd Edition GMB now offers the merit badges in the form of an interactive cut-and-paste activity.
The 2nd Edition GMB merit badges are no longer in the form of adhesive stickers, but they are provided as paper badges found at the end of the book. By providing the merit badges in a cut-and-paste paper format, we encourage fine-motor control and allow for adult-supervised cutting practice for young children. What kids don’t love the chance to be able to cut and paste?! The added fun of getting to tape, glue, etc. the cut-out merit badges to the respective activity journal pages means even more entertainment with the completion of each activity in the book!
Now that Halo has bound our activity journal pages, certificate of merit and merit badge pages into one gorgeous keepsake book, we can reach new audiences not only across the U.S., but also around the globe...This is very exciting news for us here at GMB!

We’re Not Stopping There…Vamos Los Abuelos!
A 2nd Edition of the Spanish version of the Grandparent Merit Badges kit (Los Abuelos Insignias de Merito) is next on our list of exciting announcements. We expect the 2nd Edition of the Spanish GMB book will be published and released within the next couple of weeks as well!
With the help of Halo’s expanded printing and distribution capabilities, we can reach a larger portion of the Spanish-speaking population and help to spread the message to reconnect with those who matter most even further across the world!

Come See Us at HUDSONmART, Sunday, July 30th!
Once again this summer, GMB will be hosting a booth at HUDSONmART, a local community event that brings the best local makers together! HUDSONmART will be held at the Downtown Hudson Greens in Hudson, Ohio.
If you are in the area, we would love to meet you - please stop by and say hello! There will be 50+ Hudson makers, creators, and artists, plus a food court and Hudson musicians all day!

Our Website and Facebook Page get a boost!
Given our new partnership with Halo and having several other new developments currently in process (hint hint), we took a fresh new look at our website and Facebook page and decided to redesign them to reflect our brand colors and presence more closely. We love the new look of our site with our signature colors popping everywhere and we hope you will too!
